High-strength polypropylene industrial yarns, due to their light weight (able to float on water), high strength, and resistance to acids and alkalis, are increasingly widely used in safety belts, cables, container bags, geotextiles, industrial fabrics, and other fields. In recent years, the downstream industries have put forward higher requirements for the strength stability, anti-creep property, and functional integration of the yarns. In the past, when purchasing High-strength polypropylene industrial yarn, the main consideration might have been the breaking strength value. Strength-to-weight advantage: Polypropylene has a density of approximately 0.91g/cm³, which is lighter than polyester (1.38g/cm³) and nylon (1.14g/cm³). This means that for the same weight, polypropylene industrial yarn can provide a longer length, or can be used to produce lighter end products (such as floating ropes, lightweight slings) with the same strength. When purchasing, it is advisable to pay attention to the "strength-to-weight" reference data provided by the supplier, rather than just focusing on the absolute strength. 


Anti-rheological property: High-strength polypropylene fibers will undergo creep (slow elongation) under long-term constant load. For applications such as container bags and lifting belts where they are subjected to long-term heavy loads, the anti-rheological property is a key indicator. When purchasing, you can inquire with the supplier whether they have conducted creep tests and request the data on elongation rate changes under different loads. 


Uniformity of strength: The coefficient of variation (CV value) of the strength of the filament bundles within a batch directly affects the breakage rate during weaving or knitting and the consistency of the final product's strength. Whether the supplier has the ability for online tension monitoring and individual roll inspection is a reference for evaluating their quality control level. 


II. Functional Requirements and Detailed Application Scenarios 

A single high-strength material is no longer able to fully meet the market demand. Fire resistance, anti-aging, and anti-static functions are gradually becoming standard features for specific applications. 


Functional masterbatch addition: By adding functional masterbatches during the spinning process, the fibers themselves acquire flame-retardant, anti-aging or anti-static properties, with the effect being more long-lasting than post-treatment. For outdoor ropes or shading nets, the anti-aging function is particularly important; in mining or chemical scenarios, flame-retardant and anti-static functions may become mandatory requirements. 


Application scenario matching: Different terminals place different emphases on the performance of the thread. For safety belts and lifting belts, high strength, low elongation rate, and high creep resistance are required; for filter cloths and geotextiles, more attention is paid to acid and alkali resistance, uniform fineness, and surface smoothness. Clearly defining the purpose before procurement can help suppliers recommend more suitable specifications.

Evaluate the uniformity of strength and batch stability: The supplier is required to provide test reports for the fracture strength and elongation rate CV values of multiple batches in the recent period. 


Confirm functional requirements: Are there any additional functions such as flame retardancy, anti-aging, or anti-static needed? Please state this in advance so that the additive method of using masterbatch can be adopted.
